Portal Manager

The operational risk management portal was founded by Gerrit Jan van den Brink in 2002.

It is simply designed and should help operational risk managers and controllers to find solutions for the practical problems they are confronted with.

Dr. van den Brink has about 20 years practical experience in banking and consultancy. He started his carreer with Rabobank as an internal auditor, moved to the controlling department of the wholesale banking division. He was promoted as Controller of the international division. 1996 Dr. van den Brink moved to Germany and became IT-Manager of Rabobank Deutschland AG. Later on he was appointed as CFO of Rabobank Deutschland AG. As of 1998 he was appointed as Head of Operations and Member of the managing board of Rabobank International Frankfurt Branch.

End of 1999 Dr. van den Brink was appointed as Senior Manager with a consultancy firm  focussing on German banks. Dr. van den Brink worked as Head of Operational Risk Control of Dresdner Bank AG from 2001-2006. In this period he was also member of the Fachgremium Operational Risk. In bothe roles he contributed to the development of the operational area.

Since 2007 Dr. van den Brink is managing director of ValueData7 GmbH, a risk services company. He is advicing and coaching operational risk managers in banks, insurance companies, asset management companies and pension funds. Furthermore he is working on risk management instruments for other risk types like longevity risks as well.


Dr. van den Brink is a certified public accountant in the Netherlands and holds a Ph.D. of the
Erasmus University of Rotterdam. He wrotes books and articles regarding operational risk and operations management and he is speaking on various seminars and conferences regarding
operational risk.
